Welcome to the Valskrå beat on the river Namsen - Queen of rivers
- are you ready for a thrilling experience?
The Valskrå beat is situated in Indre Namdal, a region known for its beautiful nature, bearing a long history of salmon fishing. The English lords who during the 19th century came to the region in their quest for salmon fishing named the river Namsen the "Queen of rivers" reflecting its uniqueness and qualities.
Stretching over 1600 meters the beat varies from pools and rapids in the upper section to the calmer lower section. These natural conditions provide for ideal fishing both on high and low water level. The largest salmon caught last season weighed 11.8 kg, the average for the whole season was 3.1 kg.
The dock area is idyllicaly undisturbed and child-friendly. It is set up for campfires. You can also set up a tent or park a camper here. There is also a good approach for cars down to the dock.
A "Trønderlån" (a traditional house in this region) about 1 km from the preserve can be rented. The house consists of two apartments and sleeps a total of ten. The apartments have WC facilities and bath, kitchen, living room and bedrooms. A freezer is available. Full board can be arranged. There are also several hotels/inns and camping grounds in the area.
